Dr. Ye Debao
Dr. Debao Ye, Ph.D. joined the East West College of Natural Medicine as the Academic Dean in 2006. Since graduating from the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine he has studied in various fields including cerebral dysfunction (migraines, chronic headaches, and epilepsy); soft tissue injury (fibromyalgia), arthritis, prostatitis, chronic bronchitis, asthma, sciatica, lumbar disc hernia and many other diseases. With over 23 years of medical experience, he has published more than thirty research articles, six textbooks; three DVD’s and he has received five research grants from the Chinese government.
Dr. Ye’s deep respect for the medical field is reflected in his love of teaching. He embraces not only the science of Chinese medicine but also the universal philosophies that are the root of it. He believes that the combination of science and philosophy is what makes Chinese Medicine unique, and enables the practitioner to treat the whole person, not only diseases, bacteria and virus as is exhibited in the practice of western medicine. His experience in the United States has led him to realize that few practitioners have a complete understanding of Chinese Medicine; instead they know only pieces of it. For example, some practitioners are adept at acupuncture, but have little understanding of herbs; some practitioners are familiar with herbs and acupuncture, but they know little about qi gong and tai chi; and some practitioners know all of the aforementioned, but do not fully understand the relationships between them. Dr Ye’s approach to teaching brings an integral understanding of Chinese Medicine by combining all of these aspects in their totality.
Along with Dr Ye, the East West College of Natural Medicine is fortunate to have his wife, Zhaolan Cao, who oversees the Herbal Clinic at the East West College. Professor Cao is a Chinese herb pharmacist and has extensive experience in the use of herbal therapies. Together they hope to introduce the U.S. to the advantages of Chinese Herbal therapy, which is successfully used to relieve patient’s sufferings everyday in China.
Dr. Ye’s passion is Traditional Chinese Medicine and even his spare time is spent reading the Chinese Medical Classics, such as Shang Han Lun and Gui Yao Lue. Dr. Ye believes that the East West College of Natural Medicine will provide distinguished practitioners of Chinese Medicine with a national stage and the voice needed to demonstrate, verify and prove the benefits of Chinese Medicine. It is his desire to see Chinese Medicine benefit people worldwide, and through his teaching he brings that reality closer everyday.
